Cheetahs gamble with backline

Cape Town - Cheetahs coach Naka Drotské has named his team to tackle the Blues in a Super Rugby clash in Auckland on Saturday.

The coach has gambled a bit with his backline, picking two players out of position.

Regular wing Rayno Benjamin will start at inside centre in place of Francois Venter, after the latter flew home from their Australasian tour with a troublesome shoulder.

Raymond Rhule has also not sufficiently recovered from an ankle injury to take his place on the left wing, which sees Hennie Daniller (normally a fullback) take the No 11 jersey.

Benjamin is likely to line up against All Black Ma'a Nonu, who is expected to make his return after also being sidelined by an ankle injury.

Up front, Jean Cook replaces Lappies Labuschagné at flank, with the latter moving to the bench.

Griquas centre Howard Mnisi, who is yet to make his Super Rugby debut, also comes in to provide cover on the bench.

Skipper Adriaan Strauss will play his 50th Super Rugby game when he runs out at Eden Park on Saturday (kick-off 08:35 SA time).
