Cheetahs call on Bok's brother

Cape Town - The Cheetahs have drafted in Boela Serfontein, the older brother of Springbok centre Jan, for their Super Rugby clash against the Force in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

Boela, 25, is four years older than younger brother Jan, and yet to make his Super Rugby debut, the Volksblad website reports.

He was named on the Cheetahs bench after Andries Ferreira injured his shoulder in practice on Wednesday.

It deepened the Cheetahs lock crisis, with Lood de Jager (finger) and Ligtoring Landman (calf) also sidelined.

Waltie Vermeulen and Francois Uys will now be the lock combination on Saturday.

Hilton Lobberts was not called up because he is playing for Griquas against the Pumas in Friday's Vodacom Cup semi-final in Nelspruit.

Kick-off for Saturday's clash at the Free State Stadium is scheduled for 17:05.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
