Catrakilis to kick at goal

Cape Town - Demetri Catrakilis - and not Peter Grant - will be entrusted with the goal-kicking duties when the Stormers tackle the Lions in a Super Rugby game at Newlands on Saturday.

Coach Allister Coetzee on Wednesday picked Grant at fullback for the clash with Catrakilis taking the No 10 jersey.

Grant's goal-kicking has been way off line this season - he's missed six out of 14 attempts at goal in 2014.

It is a far cry from the 2012 season when he was successful with 50 out of 54 kicks.

Catrakilis, on the other hand, was successful with 13 out of 15 kicks at goal this season.

Coetzee told Die Burger's website an ankle injury prevented Grant from kicking at goal during his recent stint in Japan. He said Grant had admitted to struggling with his confidence in that department.

Coetzee also defended his decision to pick Grant out of position, saying he had played fullback in Japan and also in his younger days at Maties.

Jaco Taute, who is yet to impress since joining from the Lions, was dropped to the bench for the clash against his old team-mates.

Saturday's clash kicks off at 17:05.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
