Carter to start against Lions

Johannesburg - Dan Carter will get his first start of the Super Rugby season after being named in the Crusaders side to face the Lions in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 17:05 SA time.

Carter was named among the substitutes in the seven-time Super Rugby champions' last match against the Cheetahs in Christchurch and came on as a replacement in the second half. It was his first match back since suffering a groin injury during last year's Rugby World Cup.

In other changes to the team that beat the Cheetahs 28-21, Tom Taylor replaces Ryan Crotty at inside centre. Wyatt Crockett comes in at loosehead prop for Ben Franks and George Whitelock will replace brother Luke at blindside flank.

    Lions better play like The Cheetahs or it could be a long day at the office. With Carter back, best believe the backline will be more effective, especially Israel Dagg!

    Maybe he picked up a psychological problem with the All Blacks managing to win the WC without him... mmmmm i can just see him missing a conversion and then going down on his knees and start crying.... hopefully he's fine ;)

    What's up with NZ and Carter - they're keeping all their so-called top players in cotton wool??? Rugby is a contact sport - there will be injuries.
