Christchurch - Todd Blackadder won't bow to sentiment and will dictate Dan Carter lines up in the No 12 jersey for his 100th Crusaders match this weekend.
According to the Stuff.co.nz website, Carter will again start at inside centre to give Tom Taylor, who set a Crusaders record by scoring all their points in the 31-24 win over the Stormers on Saturday, another shot in the No 10 spot that has usually been reserved for the All Blacks maestro since 2005.
Having made his Super debut against the Hurricanes in 2003, Carter, 30, will notch up the century of appearances against the same foes in Wellington on Saturday.
But getting the chance to do it at flyhalf appears a goner with Crusaders coach Blackadder acknowledging the Taylor-Carter partnership that performed so ably against the Stormers at AMI Stadium will not be canned just so the bloke nicknamed "Dessie" can bring up the milestone with that familiar No 10 on his back.
"Tom and Dan, their combination worked really well together, and we would like to see that again. I don't think it really matters what jersey Dan is wearing for this match - it really doesn't matter - and I think we witnessed that on Saturday night by the way they shared the kicking (in general play)," Blackadder said.
Instructed to take the shots at goal because Carter's groin was still irritating him following a mediocre display against the Bulls the previous weekend, Taylor was in sublime form against the Stormers, slotting all nine attempts - eight penalties and a conversion - and scoring a try.
