Melbourne - Adam Byrnes of the Rebels has lodged an appeal against the outcome of a SANZAR Misconduct Hearing held on April 19 at which he was fined $5 000 and ordered to pay $2 500 in SANZAR costs after being found in breach of the SANZAR Code of Conduct.

Byrnes was alleged to have contravened the SANZAR Code of Conduct following comments in an interview in the Daily Telegraph on March 23, 2012.

A SANZAR Appeals Committee, chaired by Bill Wilson QC with Jannie Lubbe SC and Terry Willis as members will hear the appeal via Teleconference on May 22.

Due to logistical and travel complications for some of the parties involved this is be the first available date to conduct the appeal.
