Burger relishes McCaw battle

2011-06-30 15:33

Cape Town - When Stormers skipper Schalk Burger admits to having pre-match butterflies, one can only imagine how excited the younger players are ahead of their Super Rugby home semi-final against the Crusaders at Newlands on Saturday.

While most openside flanks do not relish having to keep Crusaders captain Richie McCaw under wraps, Burger simply sees it as another "tussle" between old foes.

The Capetonian captain would, however, not be drawn into saying too much about McCaw.

"I don't think I have to say anything about him (McCaw)," said Burger.

"He's pretty well documented and he's probably the best loose forward to ever play rugby.

"We've had some good tussles in the past and I'm sure this weekend will be another one."

Looking ahead to what could very well be a rain drenched battle at Newlands - a 30% chance of rain has been forecast for the match - Burger highlighted that the men from Christchurch are capable of adapting to all conditions.

"You don't become a champion side if you can't adapt to conditions," said Burger.

"If it happens to be raining on Saturday we will just have to play the conditions - it is as simple as that."

One of the aspects of the side that has dominated Super Rugby this season is the passion they have been playing with following the devastating earthquakes in their home town in February.

The Crusaders had to forfeit their opening match - against the Hurricanes and shared two points each - of the season and were forced to play their home matches in Nelson and Timaru.

"It is a terrible thing that happened, but at the end of the day it can either bring a side together or splinter it and they've pulled together remarkably and have done Christchurch proud," said Burger.

"They are going to be determined, as are we.

While the Crusaders will be playing for their fans who are currently rebuilding their lives, the empty trophy cabinets at Newlands should be motivation enough for the home side.

"Hopefully by now their trophy cabinet is pretty full, I think it is seven or 700 trophies they've won in the last five or 10 years and we haven't won any of it," said Burger.

"Both sides have different motivation and that all makes for an exciting contest on the weekend."

Shame Schalkie, jy gaan weer staan en stotter en tjank na die game as julle WEEREENS nie die koppie kon wen nie

Right, now that everyone has had their say, forget about what the fake Mike the Troll has to say, he has gone back to bed and we will probably not hear from him again until about 3.00pm tomorrow afternoon - that will be about 8.00 or 9.00am Canadian time. I do not comment in Afrikaans at all - I have too much respect for the language to massacre it in my messy style! I am a staunch Stormers supporter and welcome Britz in the line up. So pleased that Tank has the Stormers to lose - that about gives them a better chance :)!

No contest, McCaw is light years better than Schalk. the more I look at it ans the teams ut together, the more I realise that SA got a long way to go, espescially the Stormers, but lets hope for a miracle. Go Stormers, make us proud.

      docraven - 2011-06-30 16:06

Brannas, You will be glad to hear Spies is actually asked if he could run out ahead of Schalk with our Mascot.LOL,LOL,LOL

      MoZaHo - 2011-06-30 16:07

" SA got a long way to go, espescially the Stormers" Uhm, Out of all the SA Teams, are the Stormers not the only team to advance to the Semi's? Considering all the injuries they've had the past few months, they still managed to get to the top. I think you need to cut the Stormers some slack, and face facts that they are the top performing SA team this year.

      docraven - 2011-06-30 16:15

Brannas, i know you were struggling with the Headline. Its not the relish that you eat my good pal.Just did'nt want you to embarrass yourself like normal.Love you my best friend

      Brannas - 2011-06-30 16:19

The stormers must still win the cup, second or to where you advanced to means nothing, only the winner will be remembered. either you win it or you dont.

      Brannas - 2011-06-30 16:32

And I truely hope the Stormers will pull it off, it won't be easy from hereon. The stormers is the last SA that I will support but seeing that they are the last one standing, I'm all behind them.

      docraven - 2011-06-30 16:32

Brannas did you mange to come up with that comment yourself.'You either win or you dont" You are my Chuck Norris ! Are we still on for Tea on Sat??

@Doc, we still on for Saturday, but not tea for me, I will rust, rather a klippies and spar imitation coke.See ya on Saturday mate

  • Maori - 2011-06-30 15:48

These show ponies are having press conferences / interviews the whole week - wake up, it is a semi-final, not a popularity contest. The big Richie will create nightmares for Skalkie - on attack, defence, breakdown points and with the local support, the game will be sealed! Slippery and windy conditions, Carter to kick in empty spaces behind the defensive line and Jantjies under pressure. Mark my words, Jantjies will be tested in the rainy conditions. His confidence is low and the Saders will exploit it big time. The Stormer front row will be under immense pressure - cannot wait. Good luck to both teams

      docraven - 2011-06-30 16:02

and you continue to read and comment on the media hype thats on News24.DAH you idiot.LOL

      Joshua Austin - 2011-06-30 16:13

Richie McCaw is out-of-form! Matt Todd would have been a better bet and why should the Crusaders boys follow Richie's captaincy when Kieren Read has lead them so well for practically the whole season? I think Richie's inclusion in the Starting XV is unfair on Matt Todd and Keiran Read and a big mistake by the coaches especially if Richie McCaw doesn't hit his straps (look at what happened when Richie played the Cheetahs!).

      watalife - 2011-06-30 16:17

The only show ponies you have in SA are Papier Spies, Meisiekind,Steyn,Stegman,Hougarrd i really dont have time to give you the list but i am sure you get the idea.

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-06-30 16:18

Afternoon Maori. Just want to let you know that the Saders too have been giving press conferences today - left, right and off centre. Todd is moaning about Schalk Brits playing for the Stormers, Richie is talking up Peter Grant and Craig Joubert. Tis not only the Stormers doing any talking mate - just thought I would let you know.

      Maori - 2011-06-30 16:35

Saffa-Cat, thanks. I'm not your mate and do not need your updates

      Mike@CapeT - 2011-06-30 16:36

Must admit, I would prefer it if the players kept a low profile but, as Saffa has said, the Crusader players are also talking to the press - big time. It would appear that maybe they are kakking themselves at the prospect of Britz appearing....hadn't planned for that :)!

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-06-30 16:46

@Maori - I was not doing it out of the goodness of my heart chum. I was pointing out that you are wrong in saying the Stormers talk too much blah blah blah, mate. Friend and foe are called mate - klaar. I do not rely on name-calling to make a point. That said, go and find those Saders interviews......and then you can possibly tell me why Todd Blackadder is so p**sed off at Brits playing for us, when he called in Thorne when he needed help earlier in the season....(who I believe plays outside of New Zealand....on another island) because he wanted EXPERIENCE......very interesting he is making a big deal of this, when he himself used the same SANZAR rule to suit his team earlier.......Cheerio Maori, have a pleasant evening.

      docraven - 2011-06-30 16:49

Maori, you need every update you can thick as a plank!!

      Maori - 2011-06-30 16:51

Saffa-Cat, I always have nice evenings - any comments about the rugby? Game plan?

      Colin - 2011-06-30 16:53

@maori, those "show-ponies" as you called them, just admitted that RM is not only the best on the field, but the best to ever play the game.... dont you think we need to leave the stupid comments and wait for a great game of rugby to be played between 2 fantastic sides??? the only people making to much noise is we as the supporters, you and me included...

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-06-30 17:05

@Maori - Game plan....I have no need to explain our gameplan, when the selection of the starting 15 pretty much details what the Stormers will be doing, wouldn't you agree? The same as what they have done all season....and the same as what Richie is predicting...Why on earth would the gameplan that has got us this far change? That said, the bench also gives massive insight into the gameplan for the final segment of the game.... I will give you my final gameplan once I have determined the DEFINITE starting 15....obviously certain tactics will change if Louis starts at 9. Similarly tactics would be tweaked if Jaque Fourie didn't start, as he is the defensive organiser & kingpin. So Maori - to sum it up, the Stormers will not be taking Mexted's "advice" to focus on an offensive attack for 80 minutes - they will stick to what has worked. Simple really.

      Pooh-Bear - 2011-06-30 17:34

@Joshua, I agree with you. This season McCaw's given away quite a few penalties (included that decisive final one against the Reds), he knocked the ball on more than a handful of times, and just hasn't really been near his best. But maybe it's his experience and leadership at this level that has deserved him his place? The team certainly respects him more than anyone else

      Roger 01 - 2011-06-30 18:04

Well then thats that I guess maori. You gonna win! Maybe you guys should just get the trophy now without even playing? Wouldn't you just like that? You are going to have to fight for it like hell and you not guaranteed. Maybe in your little cuckooland it works like that! Every world cup is yours for the taking.......right? Arrogance personified!

      Dave - 2011-06-30 18:35

Maori - Once was a Warrior - don't you have a wife or a kid to beat?

      Maori - 2011-06-30 18:51

Saffa-Cat, attack remains the best way of attack - you cannot defend for 80 minutes - the holes will start getting bigger. Roger and Dave, please girls, contribute to the rugby debate or ask your mom!

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-06-30 19:59

@Maori - if it's piddling with rain on Saturday (even though the Newlands pitch drains well) I doubt your Saders will be attacking from all corners either? Just a thought....That said, I did not say the Stormers were going to defend for 80 minutes (but if they have to, and it wins them the game who cares) I told you to look at the team's composition (starting and bench players) and then take a 'wild guess' as to how the Stormers will play........The weather may still have a say as well.

      Warslat - 2011-06-30 23:41

@ Maori..Not sure how the Saders will cope without their 16th man Bryce Lawrence

      Staalbal - 2011-07-01 13:23

If you were actually a Maori living in NZ you would know how many interviews the Crusaders are doing with NZ media and vice versa, but unfortunately for you, you are a sad little boy from the cape flats with a identity crises.

Don’t worry Scalla. We know what happens when they (Saders loosies) are beaten to the loose ball. Yip they will resort to unlawful tactics. We will have at least 3-4 penalties going our way as the right ref will be in charge. So Scalla as much as he (Richie) provokes you do as Beatles sang looooong time ago LET IT BE!!!!

      Mikus - 2011-07-01 07:21

Dozer - to be voted IRB player of the year, even if it was in 2004, has to mean the man probably has some idea on how to play the game you must concede. I'm more impressed by how well he has grown into the captaincy role - his comments in this interview show a maturity and eloquence missing from like appointed SA spokesmen - pity the national selectors don't see it that way.......

  • TerraFic - 2011-06-30 16:12

It makes me wonder if half the guys commenting on this article have ever even watched a full rugby game!? Pathetic losers. Rather support the fellow SA teams instead of typing a load of bull! (all pun intended) I'm currently inside the top 300 people in the Super 15 fantasy league and I believe the Stormers will pull this one through... hence the reason I will be loading my team with Stormers. GO STORMERS DO US PROUD!!

      docraven - 2011-06-30 16:24

You can comment until you Blue in the face, but when you have to deal with Bull Supporters its like dealing with a squint Baboons.STORMERS

      boetman123 - 2011-06-30 16:27

Schalk makes at least 10 more tackles per game than any other player on the field (including the opposition). I agree with you TerraFic, they can do it if they neutralise the dangerous players.

      frans.visserdsb - 2011-06-30 16:41

If you watch the Sharks game, you can see how to beat the Crusaders. Fist, you need a neutral ref... Second, you need to commit loosies to the ruck and maul - until the ref got a brainfart in Nelson, the sharks were turning over the Crusaders Ball at will - because the Crusaders do not commit players to the ruck and maul. their loosies hang out in the backline... The Sharks drove over the ball, making it impossible for the ref to blow them up for it until he started blowing for coming in from the side... With Schalk and Francois we have the Loosies to contest the ball on the ground, Nick can break the line... It won't be easy, as the Crusaders have an awesome team and play with a lot of passion, but Ithink we can do it. Stormers make us proud!

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-06-30 17:26

@Frans - Schalk needs to stay out of the backline on Saturday.....Nick Koster is a sublime runner, a TRUE linking 8th man, and he must be allowed to perform to his strengths on Saturday. Nick is not a Duane type 8th man, which means Schalk and Louw have to up their physicality and STICK to where they are needed - the breakdowns/collisions/mauls. Nick is a natural and sublime runner, and Schalk needs to make way for Nick as a runner/receiver - and focus on doing the physical stuff Duane would have been doing....

      Maori - 2011-06-30 19:56

TerraFic, we attend all rugby games at Sader Park - for the love of the game - why don't you include your sister in your fantasy league? Sounds like she belongs there

      Maori - 2011-06-30 22:02

@Frans, watching the Sharks game, I see a score line of 36 - 8. That's surely the way to win the Saders. Stop being so silly, dom and doserig

      frans.visserdsb - 2011-07-01 06:02

@Maori mate, a rugby game can turn on something small... what was he scoreline when Reid got the intercept try? thereafter the Sharks were playing catch-up and taking risks...Stupid calls from the ref also did not help.. at least 9 points were from I would call dubious penalties (if I was being generous). So, read my comment again - and please disagree wih the fact that the sharks were brilliant in driving over the ball and winning the turnovers. unfortunately they did not seem to know what to do with the ball after that...

  • StBad - 2011-06-30 16:18

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-06-30 17:10

@Kok - Rafa doesn't cheat...........but yes, Rafa is the finest tennis player on the planet, Richie was the finest player on the planet - but at the moment it is his "aura" more than his current form that is keeping him up there.

  • Dread69 - 2011-06-30 16:27

What is it with the bulls supporters? You are not supporters of rugby. You keep on about how arrogant the Stormers supporters are yet the only people being 'arrogant' on this forum are you guys. The Stormers won the SA conference. It doesn't matter how many trophies the bulls have won - they weren't good enough to win one this year. Can you guys not just support SA rugby? Whether we beat the Crusaders on Saturday or not doesn't change the fact that the Stormers were the only SA side to make to the semi's this year.

      pcpcoetzee89 - 2011-06-30 16:37

Whao ... you have just convinced me through your sweet, noble and pure argument ... good grief ... hopefully you are a lawyer mate - we need such noble and pure guys like you! Supporting SA rugby does CERTAINLY NOT imply supporting the bergbokke ... never ever mate ... never ever [though i confess i will not support the 'saders either on Saturday]! • Jan - 2011-06-30 16:31

Kom Stormers, doen dit, julle kan Skalla, vryf asb Cheater Mccaw se neus in Nuweland se modder

  • Northern Stormer - 2011-06-30 16:39

Just received an e-mail from DsTV - apparently all future Bulls games will be removed from Supersport channels and moved to the History channel until they improve. That is exactly inline with all their recent comments - all based on history !!! Strongs Bulls next year it will be better !!!!

  • Hammer - 2011-06-30 16:53

Storm in a teacup! Hak hak... We will chat all you Kaapies and gayboys on Monday, and yes Shroom Popsicle (who obviously sing ah ha de o shroomba to his boyfriend) we did finish seven... at least having won 3 Super trophies....

      Oukoos - 2011-06-30 17:09

Oor twintig jaar van nou af kan jy jou kleinkinders vertel van die wonderlike Bulls wat donkiejare gelede 3 super trofeë verower het.

      frans.visserdsb - 2011-07-01 06:09

yep... and I remember when WP won 5 Curry cups in a row in the 80's... It's history mate. Right now, this year, the Stormers ended on top of the conference. They are the only side to make the semi's. I live in Pretoria, and I supported the Bulls when they played the Chiefs in that one-sided final. Because I am first and foremost a SA supporter. But some of these Bulls supporters are so bitter and twisted about being 7th (out of 15 sides... barely in the top half, guys!!!) that they are spewing vitriol. Guys, if you on't want to support the SA sides, great. Please then stop irritating those of us that still have a vested interest in the game. The Curry Cup starts on the 15th of July. Focus on that.

      Hammer - 2011-07-01 09:09

@ frans.visserdsb... I am not bitter and twisted, just enjoying the banter... Truth be told, I am 100% behind you guys and really hope that you pull this off! Good luck Stormers!!!

  • Kok - 2011-06-30 16:54

Waar is Snorman op dees aarde? Hy het lanklaas iets lagwekkend gesê.

      Oukoos - 2011-06-30 17:10

Moenie jou broer so afkraak nie

      docraven - 2011-06-30 17:14

      Go play with baby Kok

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-06-30 17:15

@Kok - I like Peter de Villiers, and whatever else he may or may not have done, the man IS PASSIONATE about rugby. What he says makes a heckuva lot more sense than what most people realise...........and I for one, don't appreciate people teasing him non-stop. (and yes I have also laughed my @ss off at some things he has said but I refuse to listen to people mock him for the sake of it - and that includes you) When P Divvy moaned about refs - the world went nuts. Now Graham Henry is moaning about refs 24/7 and it's OK? When P Divvy said SBW would be worked out - the world laughed, until Barry Geel with Brendan Venter's help did EXACTLY that. When P Divvy said SBW and his "glamour" was not good for the game - people mocked him - YET: 80% of SA rugby lovers are saying exactly the same thing after SBW's dive last week (along with his other tantrums....) Let the man be.

  • Dan - 2011-06-30 17:56

".. rain drenched battle at Newlands - a 30% chance of rain.." Where the hell do they get these stupid reporters, probably Stephen d00s Nell again. 30% chance means 70% chance of not raining - odd I will take any day. Good luck to the Stormers anyway, us Bulls suppoerters (most of us) are 100% behind you guys.

      frans.visserdsb - 2011-07-01 06:11

thanks Dan. We need the whole country behind us...

  • Steve - 2011-06-30 18:37

So the wonderfool Ritchie is light years ahead of Schalk(@Broanass--le and Maori)?.I am so tired of the refs and cardboard cut-outs giving King Ritchie the licence to do his thing .Wake up guys this is going to be a great game.Schalk is no longer given cards;Ritchie never gets cards!!!!Maybe we will see a Stormers win and then ?AB are the chokers of note !Best in the world every year (1987 lucky)??Go Stormers.

      Maori - 2011-06-30 19:15

You're right Steve- maybe they win, but it will mean they must beat the big boys from Christchurch. Why is Richie worrying you guys. At the end of the day, it is the score board that matters. Stop moaning like a viswyf and talk rugby. Lucky in 1987 - dream on. Why were the Saffies not there? Forgot, protecting the minority. You guys deserved not to be there!

      Backstabber - 2011-06-30 19:38

Maori is a legend. The big boys are indeed from Christchurch - I wish we were from Christchurch too... Sorry, that was a typo - we are from Christchurch. Go Saaaaaders!!!!! hehehehehehehehehehehe

      Maori - 2011-06-30 19:51

No need to be from Christchurch- you relax on your Danville plot

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-06-30 19:55

@Maori - you are also a "Saffie" - I know that's what your passport and ID doccie say (although your mind might try and convince you otherwise)

      Backstabber - 2011-06-30 20:34

I cannot believe my precioussssss Maori is so nasssssty to me. Must be a missstake. Heheheehehehehehehehe

      Wormtongue - 2011-07-01 00:31

"Maori" van die Kaap (Bwhahaha already) - "No need to be from Christchurch" (to be a Saders supporter). Well then no need to be married to Charlize Theron then - just call her your wife... Bwahahahahahahahaha

      AtomicA - 2011-07-01 00:53

@Backstabber - Maori might be mistaken, but a broken clock can be right at least twice a day.

      BlouBos - 2011-07-01 08:56

Well Maori, Danville is by far a better place than Die Kaapse Vlakte were you coming from. Bet you, you are a gangster doing drugs. It's time for PAGAD to rise to the occasion again to silence dagga smokers like you. We don’t have problems like this in Danville dude?

  • Maori - 2011-06-30 19:24

Closed practise for the Saders earlier today - media and supporters only allowed for the first 5 minutes - Todd back to his own tricks - mense hier kom groot marakkas! Stormer's defense will crack under persistent attacks from the angles (Zac) and through the middle (Robbie). Cannot wait for the game of games - tomorrow we will wear our Sader and Black jumpers everywhere - no Stormer jumpers are allowed close to Saders Park on match day

      Backstabber - 2011-06-30 20:35

      Saders 100 - Stormers 3 hehehehehehehehehehehehe

  • Maori - 2011-06-30 19:31

Where's Saffa-Catt, Nyan, Docraven, Anchorman, Mike@CapeT not commenting now- oh, realise now they cannot abuse their company's internet at home.

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-06-30 19:53

Sorry old chap - I was in the gym. I don't work for anyone but myself...... and I promise you I have more than one communication device. And now I will be finishing a report. Rest well.....even if only to 'curb your enthusiasm' for 8 hours.

      Maori - 2011-06-30 21:06

Cannot curb my excitement - will be hosting my flag at the end of Adderley Street at 13h30 tomorrow afternoon after lunch at the Cullinan with the guys!

      Wormtongue - 2011-06-30 21:14

Try the new SA flag dimwit - you are so pre-94.

      Wormtongue - 2011-06-30 21:23

And most people "hoist" their own flag - I guess when you hoist somebody else's flag you "host" it - Freudian slip? Bwahahahahaha

      AtomicA - 2011-06-30 21:36

@Wormtongue - "Freudian slip?" Seem to be the case...hehehe

  • AtomicA - 2011-06-30 19:47

What shall we say then? STORMERS!!!...of course. I can not wait. Friends, fire and an anticipated, great game.

      Maori - 2011-06-30 19:52

      AtomicA - 2011-06-30 20:01

@Maori - What is the question? Or what seem to be the confusion (or other)?

  • !!Vrystaat!! - 2011-06-30 20:18

Wie blaas die game ? Sterkte WP. Glo julle kan dit doen.

      Maori - 2011-06-30 21:07

      Naka Drotske blaas!

      Wormtongue - 2011-06-30 21:26

      Maori suig!

      Maori - 2011-06-30 22:00

Wormtongue, you're right - your mother

      Wormtongue - 2011-06-30 22:46

Ah, it all makes sense in analogy - SA is your mother, but you are sucking on NZ's t!t... Bwahahahahahaha

      AtomicA - 2011-06-30 23:27

@Wormtongue - Do you think this makes Maori a bastard in the "strict" sense of the word (one mother with another "mother" feeding)? Maybe I'm too forceful in my assertion, but his "your mother" (jou ma - ?) assertion is, perhaps, telling? Especially after his "blaas" (breath out or blow air into...or on...or...) equivocation (?) on the original "blaas" (to officiate) of !!Vrystaat!!.

  • JerusalemJet - 2011-06-30 21:43

I thought the saders coach was looking a tad nervous on the News tonight . If it wet , and there is no reason with all this rain , why the going will not be heavy under foot , that any forward ascendancy will be neutralised . Terry La Croix realized that in the rain in a CC Final between Natal and WeePee a few years ago . Despite Carter , I think the WEEPEE backs will win this one .

      Maori - 2011-06-30 21:54

You sound very confused. Blackadder is a clever coach - unlike your AA coach who must report to baas Rassie

      AtomicA - 2011-06-30 22:18

@Maori - Maori said: "Blackadder is a clever coach" An assumption based on...what?. "unlike your AA coach..." An assumption based on...what? (I assume AA meaning Alcoholics Anonymous) Then: If AC have to report to Rassie, what does this mean? Does this mean Rassie is his superior? I would think that this is stating the obvious. If Rassie is his superior then it "normally" would follow that he (AC) would have to report to Rassie.

  • Bulkalf - 2011-06-30 22:43

Kan iemand my asb antwoord !

      AtomicA - 2011-06-30 23:00

@Bulkalf - The Crusaders (3) lost to the Cheetahs (11) and then beat the Flou Bulle (7)...How do you explain that? I'm happy to see you accept that the Flou Bulle can not play rugby...(?)...(grammar?)...Just asking.

      Karoobloed - 2011-06-30 23:24

I am a SA Rugby supporter in general, favoring the Springboks and the Stormers in particular. To me it seems petulant to ridicule the Bulls because of one "off" season. The Bulls were the Super Rugby Champions 3 times from 2007-2010 - a massive achievement. No wonder the "SA" Crusaders are so bitterly negative about the Bulls - it must be hard to see "your own" win, when you make it a career to brag about sleeping with the enemy. Go Stormers!!!

  • Kleinboet - 2011-06-30 23:59

Please, Boys (and Girls), stop swinging punches at each other! You're not very good at it, anyway. Why don't you rather just pledge your support for the Stormers for this game and the next one. Then you can really look forward to and enjoy the celebrations with a clear conscience come the 9th July, 2011? Believe me when I tell you that beer tastes much better when you drink it because you're celebrating, instead of drowning your sorrows! Stormers forever and ever, Amen!

      AtomicA - 2011-07-01 00:49

@Kleinboet - "...stop swinging punches at each other! You're not very good at it, anyway." That seem to be true and that is why it is so nice to use those "punches" against them. *smiles* "...enjoy the celebrations with a clear conscience come the 9th July, 2011" Your error seem to be that you take all people to have a conscience. Some might just not have any.

      BlouBos - 2011-07-01 12:31

Listen Kleinboet. We did that last Saturday with the Sharks. They didn't even pitch up for the game and now you expect us to do the same for the Stormers? The thing is the Bulls and the Sharks are already over there sorrows. Reality will hit the Stormers Saturday night. Remember the saying, it is not how you start, but is how you end? The truth is the Crusaders end with a bang and the Stormers not. After winning the Cup 7 times the Crusaders do have the BMT (Big Match Temperament) to take it the eight time. Schalk and Andries didn’t have the temperament to talk decent to there fellow team members when they was under pressure against the Bulls. It has all to do with BMT.

  • joe joe - 2011-07-01 11:29

Im not a stormers supporter but will support any SA franchise against AUS or NZ... Go Stormers holding thumbs for you

  • Kevin - 2011-07-01 12:31

I recall a commentator describing Schalk saying: "He throws his body at the line with reckless disregard." And that pretti much sums Schalk Burger up for me, his level of commitment is hard to match.
