Pretoria - The Bulls have confirmed that utility back Lionel Mapoe will miss the remainder of the Super Rugby season due to a shoulder injury.
The versatile outside back sustained the injury on Saturday during his side’s 30-25 win over the Toyota Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.
According to Bulls team doctor, Org Strauss, the player will be out for at least six to eight weeks, but if operated upon, could miss the rest of the season.
“Lionel will see a specialist on Tuesday, who will decide what the next step is. He had a scan today which showed some damage.”
There was good news for Francois Venter though, as the midfielder, who had a groin operation, will be fit once the squad assemble again.
In other injury news, the Bulls have confirmed that Akona Ndungane and Wiaan Liebenberg are expected to recover in time for the remainder of the Super Rugby season, while Paul Willemse and Cornell Hess are still struggling with long-term knee injuries.
