Bulls big guns set to start

Brenden Nel - SuperSport

Johannesburg - The Vodacom Bulls should be at full strength when they meet the Sharks in their showdown in Durban on Saturday.

Bulls team doctor Org Strauss confirmed that there were no massive injuries in the weekend walloping of the Rebels and that the only worry off the field – midfielder Jaco Pretorius – “should be declared fit on Wednesday.”

Pretorius has been struggling with a neck strain for a while now and every week as he seems to edge closer to action, the neck flares up again. The Bulls will be hoping he will be available as they head into the business end of the competition.

His replacement, Stephan Dippenaar is struggling with an ankle injury at the moment, but Dr Strauss believes it will have cleared up by Wednesday.

Bjorn Basson is also out with flu at the moment but should also recover in time for the match.

Hooker Chiliboy Ralepelle has a back strain which is also not considered too serious by the medical staff.

Winger Francois Hougaard and captain Victor Matfield, who both were on the bench on Saturday, should return to the starting line-up this weekend.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
