Bulls' Kirsten out of Super 15

Pretoria - The Vodacom Bulls on Friday confirmed that prop Frik Kirsten has been ruled out of rugby for the remainder of the Vodacom Super Rugby season.

The prop suffered a neck injury against the Lions last weekend and following two medical opinions will undergo surgery later this month. Kirsten will be able to resume his career after the operation, but is not expected to play again this year.

Bulls coach Frans Ludeke supports Kirsten’s decision to have the operation.

“Injuries are part and parcel of a professional rugby player’s career, but I am impressed by the way Frik has handled this set-back. We wish him well for the operation and a speedy recovery. He is a world class player, so we will be keen to have him back in our squad once he is fully recovered.”
