Cape Town - Cheetahs flank Heinrich Brüssow is set to go under the knife and will therefore miss their final Super Rugby match of the year.
Brüssow missed last weekend's 27-20 win over the Sharks due a groin injury and will also be sidelined for Saturday's clash against the Lions at Ellis Park (17:05 kick-off).
Cheetahs coach Naka Drotské told Volksblad that the flank will undergo an operation later this week because the pain he's been experiencing has not subsided.
After Super Rugby, Brüssow is again off to Japan to play for the Docomo Red Hurricanes so he won't be available for the Currie Cup.
He is yet to reach an agreement with the Cheetahs to play for them in next year's Super Rugby competition, but will in all likelihood return.
