Brussow returns concussed

Cape Town - Flank Heinrich Brussow has returned to the Cheetahs from Japan with concussion and his availability for their Super Rugby opener is in doubt.

Brussow and centre Johann Sadie this week returned to Bloemfontein after completing their duties for their Japanese club, the Docomo Red Hurricanes.

Sadie was included on the bench for the Cheetahs' pre-season friendly against the Griffons on Wednesday, but Brussow was not risked.

Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske told Netwerk24 that he's not sure if Brussow would be available for their first Super Rugby clash against the Sharks in Durban on February 14.

Wednesday's clash against the Griffons at Old Greys kicks off at 16:00. It will be the Cheetahs' final pre-season outing after losing their first two games of 2015 (30-13 v Bulls, Polokwane and 39-31 v Stormers, Cape Town).

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
