Bookies don’t fancy Sharks

2012-07-30 14:26

Cape Town – The Sharks have been listed as underdogs for their Vodacom Super Rugby final against the Chiefs in Hamilton on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 09:35.

Leading SA bookmakers Ladbrokes have installed the Chiefs as 4/9 favourites to win their first Super Rugby title, while the Sharks can be backed at 2/1.

Bookies believe the Chiefs are six-point favourites, although the Sharks will have Patrick Lambie back for the final which will be reffed by Australia-based Steve Walsh.

      skinfaxi.mordor - 2012-07-30 14:40

      Not directly anyway

      Stormkaap - 2012-07-30 15:36

Who cares.. this will suit the Sharks anyway!

  • skinfaxi.mordor - 2012-07-30 14:43

Considering the history of officiating in NZ I wouldn't give the Sharks very good odds either. Was there not even a citing after the punchup of Friday? Amazing.

  • chiepner - 2012-07-30 14:58

I heard that there is a new law in Gauteng. If you have a Blue Bulls sticker attached to your car you are now allowed to park in the disabled parking area's.

True, We get special treatment for winning all the cups and keeping SA's name high! Can you imagine if it wasn't for the Bulls (and maybe the Sharks after this weekend)????

  • vernon.samuel.7 - 2012-07-30 15:05

No unnecessary pressure of the favourite tag then.

  • margaretha.freyer - 2012-07-30 15:07

  • rod.petersen.378 - 2012-07-30 17:43

I am a lifelong Stormers/WP supporter, but on Saturday I will be screaming for the Sharks at the top of my voice!!!

      Denése - 2012-07-30 20:06

      THANKS! Good for you.

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-30 22:00

isak u get all sensitive when people call u an idiot, but u r an idiot

  • willem.pelser.9 - 2012-07-30 18:42

I have to agree with the bookies unless the sharks can get a good start and go into half-time with a good lead they will not lift the cup , traveling as much as the sharks have will take its toll on them so a great start and early points will be important if they behind at half-time then I can't see them winning. I would like to see the sharks win and if not for all the traveling the have had to do then they would be clear favorites in my book, win or lose on saturday they are the inform team and even if they lose they can still hold there heads high because the travel factor has been the undoing of better teams and the sharks have done well to over come this so far but I believe its one trip too many.

      jeremy002 - 2012-07-31 08:26

Oh my word, then the bookies have no idea what a hungry shark is capable of. The chiefs will be chewed up.

  • hans.himmler.7 - 2012-07-30 19:22

You know what Isak, you are the definition of a cnt. Instead of supporting the Sharks, you support "rugby". You are the typical oke that requires a psklap. Wat 'n idioot. You should follow the example of the rugby team that you support.

      hans.himmler.7 - 2012-07-30 20:11

For a post graduate you are one stupid cnt.

      hans.himmler.7 - 2012-07-30 20:14

Stop your stupid posts, Isak. You are worse than a Danville Blue Bull supporter. Don't prove your ignorance.

      hans.himmler.7 - 2012-07-30 20:35

Isak, quite simply if the tables were turned we would support the Stormers, and not make stupid comments, on a Stormers article like "Go Rugby". We should support each other, but here we have Isak who supports "rugby" and blatantly seeking reaction. You were quire for two days, now that you're over your depression you're back to your silly ways. If you don't want to be called names, because you are acting like the word you are being called, seek attention elsewhere by posting your stupid comments elsewhere. I for one would support the Stormers if the tabled were turned.

  • bootman.bokke - 2012-07-30 19:57

I've said it before and I'll say it again. This Isak is a complete moron. You (and the Stormers play on Saturday) make me embarrassed to call myself a Stormer supporter. You're a disgrace and I cringe when you end your posts with "Wp and Stormers groete". It's one thing for supporters to have a go at each other but I hang my head in shame when I read your idiotic posts...........................that being said, how many of you would have supported the Stormers had they won? Not many I suspect.

      bootman.bokke - 2012-07-30 20:19

Isak I really dont want to get into a conversation with you because personally, I think you a moron. You never say anything remotely intellegent or even funny. I never reply to or comment on your posts because they are always brainless. For stupidity you rank right up there with Tom Retardis. Tom, however is funny at times. You dont know how to take on supporters from other teams and normally just come across as uneducated. But hey.....................if you enjoy making a poephol of yourself, knock youself out.

      bootman.bokke - 2012-07-30 20:30

Isak they say if you make your bed you must lie in it....................you, my man, seem to be p!ss!ng in yours as well.

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-30 21:07

a wise man called harvey specter once said being a lawyer is a lot like being a doctor - you have to keep pressing until it hurts. Then you'll know where to look. not sure how that applies here but it feels right

      bootman.bokke - 2012-07-30 21:22

Tom if you're so intent on doing what feels right, why dont you do that other thing you love doing...............sticking your finger up your bum.

      derrick.pentz.5 - 2012-07-30 21:52

@Bootman -sorry but you're fighting a lost cause here against Sakkie- as a avid reader of these columns bur an infrequent commenter - you have no chance- he will call people Poofters (Derrick Minnie) & threaten to RAPE/ GRIND/VERPLETTER etc all & sundry with that all powerful weapon he possesses-CAPS LOCK- but rarely does he offer any valid comments regarding Rugby prowess, strengths, strategy, coaching, opportunities or anything worthy of debate- Regarding your last point I am definitely not a Stormers ( or Bulls ) supporter but I assure you if the Stormers were in the final I would be screaming for them & not for Rugby-

  • rufuss1 - 2012-07-30 22:05

Mense - ignoreer net Isak V. en moet nie reageer op wat hy se nie. Hy is nie 'n Stormers ondersteuner nie.

      blou.johnny - 2012-07-30 22:38

...stem saam... ..Isak Visser gee die Stormer-ondersteuners 'n slegte naam.. ...sies Isak..!

  • jeremy002 - 2012-07-31 08:23

Oh my word, then the bookies have no idea what a hungry shark is capable of. The chiefs will be chewed up.

  • elizabeth.a.taljaard - 2012-07-31 09:24

Hi all rugby lovers, i have been reading the comments, and to post my first comment is a pleasure. Without naming the sorry and inept fools - who feel it is right to run people down, degrade and belittle other team supporters - I would love to convey my condolences to those people whom i find extremely amusing. A simple fact of life - It is better to keep the mouth shut, than to utter comments on a topic that you obviously are totally uneducated about. (In this case it would be about a fantastic team game named Rugby). I am a proud Sharks supporter and even played the odd game, but i understand how gutted you can be when your team takes a fall, but that has always galvanized me into supporting them even more, not to take my frustrations out on other teams or their supporters. To those Bulls and Stormer supporters who will be supporting the Sharks in the final, i salute you and welcome your support. You are true sport lovers and supporters. Mark Chaney
