Stormers boost Joost charity

Cape Town - The Springbok Sevens team, the Stormers and Joost van der Westhuizen have joined forces to raise funds for the former Springbok legend's J9 Foundation.

Van der Westhuizen's J9 Foundation is a charity aiding sufferers of Motor Neuron Disease, the condition the former No 9 suffers from.

The Blitzbokke, and Stormers players Gio Aplon and Scarra Ntubeni donated a signed Blitzbokke jersey to a telethon in aid of raising funds for Van der Westhuizen's J9 foundation that ran on from 06:00-09:00 on the Espresso show on SABC3 in Cape Town on April 17.

Together they managed to raise R133 335 for the charity.

Earlier Van der Westhuizen tweeted a picture of the jersey with the following message:

"pledge R2000 or more and stand a chance to win this signed Springbok Rugby Sevens jersey!! @skara2ntubeni @1GioAplon pic.twitter.com/ILAdLjjezH"
