Bismarck worry for Sharks

Cape Town - The Sharks will start their Super Rugby clash against the Cheetahs at Kings Park without hooker Bismarck du Plessis in the starting line-up.

Beeld reports that Du Plessis has damaged knee ligaments and underwent an arthroscopy on Tuesday. However, he is still expected to be included on the bench for their last league match of the season.

Springbok pair Willem Alberts and Patrick Lambie along with Steven Sykes and Jacques Botes, who all missed the 32-10 win over the Bulls last week, are expected to be available for selection.

Junior Boks Paul Jordaan and Pieter-Steph du Toit are major doubts, though, with coach John Plumtree conceding that the former is “still a concern”, while he rated the latter as a “long shot” to play.

The clash against the Cheetahs kicks off at 17:05 on Saturday.

The Sharks are currently in sixth position on the overall log, occupying the final playoff spot. They will therefore be keen to gain the full five points to stay in playoff contention.
