Cape Town - Stormers skipper Schalk Burger may be out injured for up to six weeks, but he has every reason to smile - he and his wife, Michele, are expecting their first child.

According to Tuesday's Argus newspaper, Burger’s agent, Megan Pieterse of ProSport International, said Michele was just more than 12 weeks pregnant.

The couple got married in Wellington in December last year.

Michele tweeted “Big day today”, after which a deluge of congratulatory Tweets poured in.

Top Billing presenter Jeannie D said she was excited for the Burgers. “Such an amazing time of your life! Truly a blessing! Congrats on these magic moments!” she tweeted.

Springbok wing Bryan Habana also wished the pair well, to which Michele replied: “Honeymoon it was? now your turn Habanas”.
