Durban - After joining the Sharks from Saracens for the remainder of the Super 14 season, Brad Barritt has been brought right into the thick of things and will play at inside centre against the Waratahs on Saturday afternoon at the Absa Stadium.
Following the serious knee injury to Frans Steyn, Barritt has made a timely return to his old team, with a stipulation in his Saracens contract allowing him to play for the Sharks if the UK club didn’t need him and the coastal franchise did.
Barritt will pair up with Adi Jacobs in the midfield, after the latter has recovered from a shoulder injury that kept him out of action last weekend.
In one other forced change to the backline, young Charl McLeod replaces Rory Kockott who was suspended for one-match after striking Highlanders flank Adam Thomson during last weekend’s match.
There is only one change in the frontrow, with Jannie du Plessis taking the place of John Smit in the No 3 jersey.
Sharks: Stefan Terblanche; Odwa Ndungane, Adrian Jacobs, Brad Barritt, JP Pietersen; Ruan Pienaar, Charl McLeod; Ryan Kankowski, Jean Deysel, Jacques Botes, Johann Muller (capt), Steven Sykes, Jannie du Plessis, Bismarck du Plessis, Tendai Mtawarira.
Replacements - John Smit, Deon Carstens, Albert van den Berg, Keegan Daniel, Monty Dumond, Riaan Swanepoel, Luzuko Vulindlu.
