Jaco delayed in Japan

Pretoria - The Bulls will wait another two weeks before they can utilise their globe-trotting utility back Jaco van der Westhuyzen.

As luck would have it, Van der Westhuyzen’s Japanese club NEC Rockets are still in the final rounds of the Japanese competition, and the former Springbok flyhalf will need to finish his commitments in Japan before he can link up with the Bulls.

Ironically Van der Westhuyzen’s club finished 10th in the Japanese League, but through their complicated playoff system, they won two playoff matches to stay in with a chance for the title.

Then, in their third playoff match, they won with a last minute penalty against the Kubota Spears, leaving themselves on the right side of a 22-21 scoreline.

This past weekend, NEC Green Rockets drew 10-all with Suntory Sungoliaths in their next playoff match, but after a result couldn’t be determined, luck was again on their side as captain Nili Latu chose the right side of the coin when the result was decided on a coin toss.

As strange as that may seem – determining the outcome of a game on a heads or tails call – the Green Rockets are now in the next round which means Van der Westhuyzen is only likely to arrive back home in a few weeks time, depending on the results of the playoffs.

Cliff - Did your mom not teach you: The stupid and unintelligent must not be bullied- Leave bulla alone-he cant help his half brain and stupid attempt at wit- Stormbarians What a stupid joke !!!! (Please he is just a clown supporting a clown team - Forgive him)

@Sheldon - Ja these bulls have a very short memory, must be all the drugs. They forget that every team goes through a cycle and their turn is almost up! So let them enjoy it while they can!
Sheldon2/10/2010 4:10 PM
This is actuallt pathetic. I want all SA sides to do well. We will see who tops who in the next 3 -4 years ;) The Stormers are a nice young squad. Your Bulls are starting to get a little long in the tooth. You should start thinking about that.
Jacques2/10/2010 4:00 PM
The Bulls can only benefit from his absence
Midnic2/10/2010 3:51 PM
@Sheldon: If I'm not mistaken, In 2003, the Bulls ended the highest of all SA teams!?
Bulla2/10/2010 3:45 PM
Since 2000 or 2001, the Stormbarians haven't won ANY cups... For nearly a decade now, the Stormbarians have been a losing team, ..with losing supporters, supporting a losing team... ..He he he ..!!
Jeff Aucamp2/10/2010 3:39 PM
@Sheldon.Could well be. But as it turns out it was long term success planning that resulted in two Super trophies.
Blue Jake2/10/2010 3:36 PM
@Jeff. Bud, I don't think any system will help the Stormers reach the play-off.
Sheldon2/10/2010 3:31 PM
@Jeff Aucamp. Is that the same exchange program the Bulls went on between 1998 - 2003. Looked like the Bulls were fielding a side from Japan during all that Super Rugby.
Bulla2/10/2010 3:27 PM
@Cliff Bradley, ..unfortunately, ..the Stormbarians are also not a winning team... ......not a single cup since...?? .......is Ricky still sober..??
MACK DIE BLOUE2/10/2010 3:19 PM
Jaco ,even on the bench, has a positive influence on the Bulls.@Cliff go suck rocks ,BUT ,ja makes a person wonder bro !
Jeff Aucamp2/10/2010 3:02 PM
@ Cliff Bradley.Maybe the Stormers should play in the Japanese leagues, maybe, just maybe they too might make a play-off on that system!!
@Bulla2/10/2010 2:27 PM
Good to see you still around Rain man
Cliff Bradley2/10/2010 2:12 PM
Bulla : If I ( And you can correct me if I am wrong - I am not too stupid or arrogant to take correction) Did they not move from 10th spot through a complicated playoff system and then move through on a coin toss - If thats a winning team , I must just smile and wave !!!
Nick2/10/2010 2:12 PM
No sir, it was a drop goal attempt, not a knock on!
Bulla2/10/2010 1:37 PM
.....Jaco is just helping NEC Rockets to win the competition in Japan...... ......he plays for winning teams... .....like for the Bulls...
Sheldon2/10/2010 1:19 PM
Someone get him down from the poles! Jokes, decent player, Bulls should start him at fullback.
