Johannesburg - Brumbies kingpin Matt Giteau has been given the green light to face the Vodacom Bulls at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.
Giteau, undoubtedly the big signing for the Brumbies in the off-season from the Force, missed the opening game against his old side through injury and pulled out of the training session on Monday as a precaution.
According to the Brumbies, Giteau passed a series of scans on his strained quad and will fly out Tueday night to join his team-mates in Pretoria ahead of the Vodacom Super 14 clash.
While the Brumbies beat the Force 24-15 at the weekend, they weren’t as slick as they would have hoped and the re-introduction of the Wallaby star will certainly go a long way to rectifying this against the defending champions.
Brumbies Team Doctor Angus Bathgate said in a statement that Giteau remains on track to take on the Bulls.
“Matt noticed some tenderness in his quad last night and withdrew from training with a view to preventing any further injury,” he said.
“We had an MRI scan today which didn’t show any new damage. We’ll obviously monitor him through the week but we still expect him to be available for selection for this weekend.”
The Brumbies arrive in South Africa Tuesday afternoon and will base themselves in Centurion in the lead up to the game.
