Sydney - Wallabies' flyhalf Matt Giteau will leave Western Force and return to the ACT Brumbies next season after agreeing to a two-year deal with the Canberra-based team, both teams said on Saturday.
Giteau, 25, said he had considered offers from Western Force and the Brumbies, but decided to return to Canberra to be closer to family and friends.
"I was very fortunate to have two fantastic offers to consider. In the end it came down to a simple desire to return to Canberra," the 65-Test back said.
Giteau said his decision was not based around money or a reported fallout with Force coach John Mitchell.
Giteau was left about $640 000 out of pocket when a third-party sponsorship deal collapsed last year.
Deliberated over future
"If it was about money I would have stayed here (in Perth)," he said.
"Obviously, there's been promises made that weren't kept because of certain things so I feel proud of myself I honoured my contract, saw out my three years here.
He said his relationship with Mitchell was "fine.
"I've never had an issue with Mitch, it's been good."
Giteau, who has played 26 matches for the Western Force after joining the side in 2007, said he had deliberated over his future at provincial level.
"Having committed to the Wallabies and Australian Rugby until the end of 2011, it was just my Super 14 future that I needed to consider," he said.
