Gerber blow for Bulls

Bulls' tighthead prop Rayno Gerber will miss his side's first Super 14 match against the Reds at Loftus on Saturday, it was announced on Monday. He is still struggling with a groin injury.

Team doctor Org Strauss said on Monday morning that Gerber's rehabilitation is on schedule and he should be available for the match against the Blues next weekend.

Werner Kruger will be the Bulls' first choice tighthead prop and with Ruan Vermeulen still doubtful for the Reds game, Frik Kirsten might come into the picture.

Kirsten is still Under-21, but he is a talented young prop who has played for the SA Schools, SA under 19's and SA under 20's in recent years.

Strauss added that there were concerns over Danie Rossouw's back injury but he is training with the team and he will in all probability be able to play against the Reds.
