Eloff sticks with his winners

Johannesburg - Lions coach Eugene Eloff has retained his starting line-up and bench which beat the Cheetahs 34-28 in last week's first round of the Super 14 for Saturday's match against the Sharks in Durban.

Eloff said that after the ideal start last weekend, they were looking forward to a tough battle in Durban - as it always is against the Sharks.

He is confident that they have ironed out the lineout problems - and his team is sure to watch out for the lethargy which beset them in the second half when they nearly undid the hard work of an impressive first half.

The Lions team:
Louis Ludik, Ashwin Willemse, Jaque Fourie, Doppies la Grange, Henno Mentz, Earl Rose, Jano Vermaak, Willem Alberts, Franco van der Merwe, Cobus Grobbelaar (captain), Gerhard Mostert, Anton van Zyl, Gert Muller, Willie Wepener, Heinke van der Merwe.

Replacements: Hans van Dyk, Lawrence Sephaka, Rynard Landman, Todd Clever, Chris Jonck, Andre Pretorius, Jannie Boshoff.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
