Cowan faces SANZAR hearing

Auckland - Highlanders scrumhalf Jimmy Cowan will appear before a SANZAR judicial officer after being red-carded for a late and dangerous charge in Friday's Super 14 match between the Blues and Highlanders at Eden Park in Auckland.

Cowan was given a red card by referee Stuart Dickinson for the charge on Blues flyhalf Jimmy Gopperth in the 60th minute of the match.

Under SANZAR rules, any player red-carded automatically faces a judicial hearing.

Cowan will appear before Judicial Officer Bruce Squire QC at the NZRU offices in Wellington on Monday with the hearing scheduled to start at 16:00.
