Bulls team in high spirits
Pretoria – Things are going very well in the Bulls camp, thank you very much.
The team have spent two days relaxing on the Gold Coast, the golfers played on the picturesque Pine Lakes course and the players have also attended a church service.
More importantly, coach Frans Ludeke is a satisfied man, though it does not mean that the team’s workload will be lighter.
“We have a lot to be thankful for. The win (over the Chiefs) in Hamilton was excellent and we made great progress on defence. It is one aspect of our game that was under the spotlight, but it’s improving every week,” said Ludeke.
“It’s nice to know that the work on the training field is yielding results in the games as it gives the players confidence.”
The Bulls have to start working hard again on Monday after watching on television how easily the Reds cut through the Lions. It was just the right medicine for the Bulls, even if they are not thinking about the log at the end of the competition.
“We saw this weekend that the leading contenders all played well. There is no way we can rest on our laurels before facing a Reds team like that. They are playing excellent rugby,” said Ludeke.
He is set to have the services of flanker Derick Kuün for the weekend’s match, but centre Jaco Pretorius and utility back Jaco van der Westhuyzen may miss the game against the Reds in Brisbane.
Ludeke also got the good news that Springbok wing Akona Ndungane completed the Vodacom Cup match against the Welwitschias in Windhoek without problems.
Ndungane, hooker Chiliboy Ralepelle and lock Bakkies Botha will report at Loftus Versfeld with the returning squad next Monday.
