Bulls team in high spirits

2010-04-12 07:31

J.J. Harmse

Pretoria – Things are going very well in the Bulls camp, thank you very much.

The team have spent two days relaxing on the Gold Coast, the golfers played on the picturesque Pine Lakes course and the players have also attended a church service.

More importantly, coach Frans Ludeke is a satisfied man, though it does not mean that the team’s workload will be lighter.

“We have a lot to be thankful for. The win (over the Chiefs) in Hamilton was excellent and we made great progress on defence. It is one aspect of our game that was under the spotlight, but it’s improving every week,” said Ludeke.

“It’s nice to know that the work on the training field is yielding results in the games as it gives the players confidence.”

The Bulls have to start working hard again on Monday after watching on television how easily the Reds cut through the Lions. It was just the right medicine for the Bulls, even if they are not thinking about the log at the end of the competition.

“We saw this weekend that the leading contenders all played well. There is no way we can rest on our laurels before facing a Reds team like that. They are playing excellent rugby,” said Ludeke.

He is set to have the services of flanker Derick Kuün for the weekend’s match, but centre Jaco Pretorius and utility back Jaco van der Westhuyzen may miss the game against the Reds in Brisbane.

Ludeke also got the good news that Springbok wing Akona Ndungane completed the Vodacom Cup match against the Welwitschias in Windhoek without problems.

Ndungane, hooker Chiliboy Ralepelle and lock Bakkies Botha will report at Loftus Versfeld with the returning squad next Monday.

Great game but they still need a lot to do as the competition reaches the final stages. They must work harder on their defence and I hope they can make 3 out of 4 on the tour,it will be the perfect foundation for the remaining games .Looking forward to see Bakkies back in action but he will have to pull his finger to get his place back in the starting pack but he will and his strenght in the mauls will be much needed for the remaining games. Vlokkie must work this week with Morne with regards to his goal kicking because against the Reds every piont is going to be needed ,but the Bulls will over come them.Congrats to the Stormers it makes me looking forward to the Tri-Nations because if the rugby is strong in the North and in the South then we have a good Springbok team!! Go Bulls Go Stormers make us proud tobe South-African!!!!

Just don't rush Ndungane, Chiliboy or Bakkies back to S14 action. Give them time to proove themselves! Ndungane, at least one more match. Chiliboy, until the Currycup. Bakkies also at least one match, just to get the feeling back. Rushing them back has always failed for poor Chili!

  • Kaballas - 2010-04-12 08:31

Blouwildetril.......... moet jy als 3 keer herhaal of is jy net onnosel? Vlokkie en Wynie...... jy is tipies `n bul, praat asof jy die manne persoonlik ken. . Drop Bakkies, hy onderhandel mos elkgeval met `n Franse klubspan tans. . .

  • Black Knight - 2010-04-12 08:32

Please tell me JJ, how do the Bulls get it right to have SA refs ref all their matches, is this not suppose to be a fair competition. Where is the neutral refs.

  • Sipho - 2010-04-12 08:49

Hi, I think time has come to get rid of Bakkies and Victor we need representation make a law that the team should have 11/15 players of colour

  • Gerhard - 2010-04-12 09:07

    Sipho jy is 'n AAP!!!

  • Gaz - 2010-04-12 09:07

Bulle Bo!! I was at the Lions game in a box with clients on Sat night and all I can say is thankgod I support the Bulls. It was sickening to watch the Reds run through the entire Lions squad with out even a proper attempt to tackle. 3 tries in 10 minutes - Come on man! With bakkies back and the way we playing abroad, there is no reason why we shouldn't take the Cup again! And I reckon we only playing to about 70% potential,...

  • Gary - 2010-04-12 09:12

@sipho They already have 11/15 men of colour - white brown - black. Get the point?

  • GoBull - 2010-04-12 09:12

@ Sipho: We do have representation in rugby - of guys that CAN play. It is 15y of the New SA already, and black guys had more than enough opportunity do develop and make the teams on merrit (not on hand-out). Now it should be the best man for the job, whether he is black, white or purple. So stop your "please gimme a hand-out" mentality, get of your asses, stop begging, and make the team on your own merrit. Our teams want to win, using the best palyers irrespective of colour.

  • @ Sipho - 2010-04-12 09:22

Sipho - you are an idiot.... who cares what colour they are as long as they are the best player to win for the country, not the race. Pillick.

  • Tricky Dicky - 2010-04-12 09:22

It sound as if Sipho is from the Malema brigade. Sipho pal, open your eyes and you will notice that Soccer in South Africa and all other sports for that matter where there has been true affirmative action has downward spiralled out of control and this is caused solely by infighting between power hungry managers and clubs and because of alienating whites from the sport. When will all races in this wonderful country of ours learn that only the best man/woman for the job will do. Let us think of the wellbeing of our country and not our own agendas.

  • @Sipho - 2010-04-12 09:22

@Sipho – Move to Zim you clown, there you can have all the racist laws you want. Have you ever even seen a black lock forward? Why single out Victor and Bakkies…? Idiot, go post your sh!t somewhere else…

  • Nikki - 2010-04-12 09:28

Can I ask everyone to please ignore this kaballas bacause he uses this blog to insult other users and it is quite clear he knows nothing and only like a naughty child wants attetion PS Last year Sharks Semi-s Bulls won and South-Africa won the Tri-Nations!!!! If we ignore him he will go away!!!

  • @Sipho - 2010-04-12 09:29

    ag f..off sipho

  • Philip - 2010-04-12 09:31

Sipho. Perhaps if Bafana played more white players, they will do better. Play your way open, don't pray it open!

  • True Blue - 2010-04-12 09:32

@ Kaballas - Cocky comments and the lack of anything interesting to say shows that you have a weak mind, and a total lack of intellect. @ Sipho - you probably a white prick sitting behind you PC wanting to create trouble. Your comment is idiotic, uncalled for and totally irrelevant to the posts made - You are the weakest link goodbye - BULLS well done on your victory - A lot of mistakes - rectify that and you will be unstopable. Stormers - WELL DONE as well.

  • BULLS - 2010-04-12 09:36

@ Sipho, and replace them with who. You are not making sense and I am sure you have no idea of rugby. They are the best locks in the world how can you replace them. If you comment was purely entered to get a reaction for someone you succeeded. Thanks

  • Emile @ Sipho - 2010-04-12 09:38

It is not funny or remotely a joke. Please don't do this.

  • norman - 2010-04-12 09:45

sipho why would you want to take one of the very best forwards in the country out of the team???

  • James@sipho - 2010-04-12 09:48

Yes and make Malema president. Sipho, you are an imbecile and a dying breed. F. off.

  • Theuns - 2010-04-12 09:49

@ Sipho: Your surname is probably 'Venter', right? Stop stirring shit and make comments that actually make sense. Well done to the Bulls and Stormers, you make us proud, and I'm sure that had the Sharks played this weekend, they would have done the same, seeing as though they're on an upward curve. Cheetahs/Lions, hang in there. In cricket they say "catches win matches", implying basics are of vital importance; well, defence let you down, and I'm sure you don't need us to know that. What's comforting for me to see is that South African rugby is alive and well, and this the year before a world cup. The guys have got it at the back of their minds that they need to impress THIS season in order to have a realistic chance of being considered for next year's squad, and they sure are coming to the fore. I can think of at least 3 world-class contenders for every position in the team, and that is surely saying something. Whether that has got something to do with the strengh of the rugby in the north/south/east or freakin' west, is of no relevance, what's relevant is that it's there! PdV, choose your team wisely..

  • Pan - 2010-04-12 09:49

  • MK - 2010-04-12 09:51

@Kaballas. Wat rook jy my maat? Bulls 2007 gewen. SA wen wereld beker. Bulls 2009 gewen. SA wen drie nasies. SA wen Leeus. So as die bulls wen, wen SA.

  • @Sipho - 2010-04-12 10:01

Normally a comment like yours would only be complete if you should name two adequate substitutes for Victor and Bakkies. Now please tell us, who did you have in mind? Or is your mind a blank on that account also?

  • Banana Banana Rules! - 2010-04-12 10:06

sipho is right make all the players black! the bulls are way too good and they need to lose more. it is also not good for sa teams to reflect so good when they are from a banana republic - please stop this immediately! africans must look african and that means to look incompetent - the bulls are an embarassment - PLEASE STOP NOW!!

  • PowerGame - 2010-04-12 10:19

I AGREE with Sipho! Finally, someone that makes sence!! What has Matfield or Botha ever done for South African rugby?

  • Carl Muller - 2010-04-12 10:26

Bulls on top!! Why change a winning team. Sipho, do you want to win or loose. Look at Bafana, they are representative but lose. I'd rather win than loose. Do we choose boxers to be representative, or do we choose the best.

  • Please make sense !!! - 2010-04-12 10:26

It is so difficult to go through al these silly comments in trying to establish or follow a proper argument/conversation. People - this is a rugby blog, not a platform for gays to bitch on all day. People like Sipho, Anti-Bulls, Bulls Hater, Kaballas, etc. are really spoiling this blog for all. My suggestion is to ignore them completely. Their comments are so idiotic in any event, it is not worth replying to. Bottom line is you will never win an argument against someone who doesn't have a lue what he is talking about - those types of people actually believe themselves. It's pointless. Let's ignore them and only reply to proper comments on the is blog. With time, those idiots will stop their kak because they won't get any attention anymore. They are like Malema, they need attention to justify their existance - quite pathetic but true.

  • Sheldon - 2010-04-12 10:42

Bulls were value for their win. Deserved it. Someone needs to leash Stegman before he costs the Bulls something crucial. He is dirty and cheating now consistantly.

  • @ Kaballas - 2010-04-12 10:46

  • Mornay @ - 2010-04-12 10:47

I am a proud South African here in France and have been following the Super14 as much as I can. Firstly, I'd like to say that I am disgusted and very disappointed in all the racial and racist remarks from everybody!!! Secondly, we as a nation needs to get over the fact that we are not going to achieve anything nor will we win any mayor competitions as long as we want to fill our teams with sub standards players and for as long as we are not developing our sport from the grass roots upwards. Each of our sporting and rugby teams, being at Super14 or National level needs to be consisted of the best possible individuals and combinations, NO matter what their colour or back ground!!! The Bulls have a huge proud black and coloured following and that's because of their winning nature and atitude... We as a nation should be ashamed as to how we are conducting ourselves for the world to see... People like Mr. Julius Malema is a total embarrassment to us as a nation and to South Africa as a Country!!! He should not be allowed to go about conducting himself like that at all. Who honestly actually cares if the Stormers, Bulls or Springbok teams is full of pink, black, yellow or White players - as long as they ate winning and for as long as they make us proud and for as long as they conduct themselves in a positive and good manner we as a nation could not care less what the teams colour composition is made up of...!!! Good luck to the Bulls and the Stormers and boys - make us as proud South Africans very vert proud and just do your absolute best boys...:-)

  • Telg - 2010-04-12 11:05

@ make sense please: thank you, maybe the voices of reason like yourself can start a 'malema list' - comments that can be ignored due to sensless content. Thanks to the Stomers and the Bulls, Doc Craven use to say that if NTvl and WP plays well, the Boks will do well!

  • seeps - 2010-04-12 11:11

Reading these comments I realised how stupid people actually are. This infamous "sipho" character is an old afrikaans man bored with his time hence the use of a very common African Alias. However of course 30 morons and their dogs will comment and give him attention. Just like Julius the more attention you give your rat the more it will eat your cheese. FCK man ignore the stupid and let's focus on the topic please. The Sharks could still derail both campaigns as they are finally winning although have not clicked yet. I am worried that the Bulls and Stormers peaked too early in the tournament however atleast one of them will be in the semi's hoping for both however it doesn't get any easier for them going forward. Lions should all be relegated to playing Mvela Golden league - yes the soccer league they may win something there. Cheetahs..... what I don't get is they can beat a Sharks team and a strong Hurricanes team yet get thunped by the Brumbies? WTF?? Anyway this Super 14 could get interesting if The reds and Sharks keep winning ............ Go SA!!!

  • Robbie @ "Please make sense !!" - 2010-04-12 11:11

You the only guy that wrote something sense !! Let's ignore all these f...g clowns. I'm a huge Bulls supporter and very happy with the result. I'm very happy for the Stormers win, would luv to see a all SA final. Now I just wish the Lions & Cheetahs can go out and win against the overseas teams. I cheer for them every weekend and feel very sorry for their supporters. Keep faith...check the Reds, they were nowhere last year and this year they serious contenders. Go the BULLS & all SA Teams

  • Nikki - 2010-04-12 11:18

Kaballas?????? WTF dude? Is jy opsetlik onnosel? Ek dink jy moet eerder stil-bly voordat jy jou naam nog verder gat maak...

  • Megabull - 2010-04-12 11:30

@b@ll@$ Did your mom not teach you to have respect for woman? To agree with you we did not won the 3N but we rested our best players for thw Webb Ellis.... Do you know what that is?

  • BlouBallerinaJacomina - 2010-04-12 12:29

jul moet my pa vra om die m@ffies vani kaap ini bek te ruk.hyt my ma 1keer n p**s klap gegee omdat sy vir percy gesmaak het.en my boeta se ali bulle is bokke.en die reds gaan k&k di naweek want al wat jy sien isi blou masjien en oz skree net blou want oz is wenners.

  • antie Gary Owen Twak - 2010-04-12 13:49

  • RugbyLover - 2010-04-12 14:17

antie Gary Owen Twak, Jy moet by kom seun. Het jy ooit die games gekyk?

  • Sharky Andrew - 2010-04-12 14:20

I partly agree with Sipho. I don't think we should set a minimum number of players of colour in every team, though he does have a point in saying that black players do need to be given a chance to make a name for themselves. I'm actually enjoying seeing the bulls form slowly start spiralling downhill, the cracks are already beginning to show in their structures and I'm looking forward to next year when they'll be losing the services of Matfield and Du Preez. the future is looking pretty bleak for the boys in blue. i doubt they'll even make the final this year to be honest. I reckon it'll be a stormers vs crusaders decider in newlands. ps - my predictions for this week - reds 42 bulls 13

  • Cruzelite - 2010-04-12 14:23

Hi Everyone, I just thought I have to point out that we have a newcomer on the blog that is more intellectually challenged than Sipho or K..........las. His name is PowerGame. I suggest that he gets a Wii where you get an applause when you play well against yourself.

  • Etienne - 2010-04-12 14:25

Fact - Bulls have been no.1 since week 1 with the ezception of week8 (2nd) Fact - sharks have not been higher than 10th on the log this season Fact - Stomers are playing good rugby and deserve to be in the top 4 Fact - Bulls play finals and win Fact - Stormers and Sharks choke in finals Fact - Bulls get SA refs cause chuck norris plays for the bulls Sipho - d00s Kaballas - go play with them Powergame - d00s 2

  • Etienne - 2010-04-12 14:25

why do the commets jump from article to article? SPORT24 you suck

  • Blue Bull Hater/Anti-Blue Bull - 2010-04-12 14:34

I support SIPHO's idea, but would like to take it further. Why not have a BLACK Springbok team, and a mixed team as your B team?

  • @ ant gary owen twak - 2010-04-12 14:37

Hoe nou so mevrou? Word bietjie wakker toe.
