Brüssow up for the challenge

Hendrik Cronjé

Bloemfontein – Springbok flanker Heinrich Brüssow is unconcerned about the manner in which referees are now patrolling the breakdown.

Brüssow has frequently had to overcome stumbling blocks. It was first said that he would be too small for Super 14 rugby and now he has heard that the application of the laws at the breakdown will be the end of him.

The man just smiles about his new challenge. He is known to be a player of action rather than words and he did not want to say much.

“I don’t think the laws have changed significantly. I have always played within the laws,” said Brüssow.

“The Cheetahs are in the privileged position of having a loose-trio that can benefit from stricter application of the laws.”

Brüssow is referring to Juan Smith and Frans Viljoen who have both been utilised as fetching flanks and Cheetahs coach Naka Drotské may decide to utilise Smith and Viljoen in that role in Friday’s Super 14 match against the Sharks in Durban

In that case Brüssow will get more time to carry the ball and show off his skills.
