Bookies backing Sharks, Bulls

Cape Town - The tension is mounting as nine of the world’s most accomplished sides vie for a place in the Super 14 playoffs, all aiming to experience the thrill of lifting the coveted silver trophy.

After a number of upsets this past weekend, the tournament table has undergone an epic shuffle but, surprisingly, both the Sharks and Bulls have retained their favourable odds in the global betting stakes.

According to local sports betting authority, GreatOdds.co.za, the Sharks are still positioned at the top of the betting table, tied at 5/2 with formidable opponents, the Bulls.

The Hurricanes, fresh from their obliteration of the Brumbies, follow in third place at 10/3, even though they are presently leading the results table for the tournament.

With all remaining SA sides out of contention for the title, odds for the remaining New Zealand and Australian teams are as follows:

Chiefs 9/2
Blues 25/1
Crusaders 25/1
Waratahs 25/1
Western Force 25/1
Brumbies 100/1
