Johannesburg - Bakkies Botha will miss both home Super 14 matches against the Highlanders (this Saturday) and Hurricanes before the Bulls embark on their Australasian tour and also not make the tour.

The Springbok lock's rehabilitation has taken longer than envisaged. "We're not considering Bakkies for the tour. He will stay home and carry on with the rehab programme he's on," Bulls doctor Org Strauss confirmed on Monday.

Centre Jaco Pretorius is also struggling to shake off his quad injury. He was not considered for this weekend's match against the Highlanders, giving young Stephan Dippenaar another run at Super 14 level.

The Bulls play the Force, Blues, Chiefs and Reds in Australasia before they return for their derby against the Lions on April 24.

Wiele ... i am not going to talk to you again, now listen clearly! Switch off your Father's computer ... put the dummy back into your mouth ... call the nanny to change your dirty nappy and ... go and play with the other children outside ... now move!!

I wonder if Bakkies is injured or if he has been 'powdering his nose' with cocaine like the rest of the Blue Bulls fraternity. Five weeks is a long time to tour without your dealer.

Thank goodness I'm not a WP supporter like this brainless asshole. Firstly, there is no WP anymore (heard about the Stormers?). Secondly - linking my team's name to an asshole like this, allowing him to drag my team's name through the mud - no thank you. There are asshole supporters in all teams, but reading this fag idiot's comments this past week was painfull. Painfull due to the absolute irritation it causes. This man is mentally handicaped in a very big way. I feel for all his fellow STORMERS supporters. He's like a brother in jail - you know of him, but you rather ignore him. Good luck to Bakkies in any event and good luck to all our teams this weekend.

@ WP man: Ek sien die stooopid etter is terug in 'n ander forum om sy naam gat te maak. Julle slotte kom nie naby Flip vd Merwe, Victor, Bakkies en selfs Wilhelm Steenkamp nie. Andries-kom-ons-bly-eerder-weg-van-die-losskrum-Bekker is net 'n atleet. Hy moet hoogspring gaan doen, nie rugby speel nie. O ja, en wie's julle ander slot?? Nee regtig, ek weet nie wie hy is nie. Die Stormers speel net met die uitskot van ander provinsies.

@ Go Stormers Lol thats rich coming from a Cape Barbarain supporter - you do realize that you have the biggest thug of them all, captaining your mob? You must be running out of holes to stick your head into. Bakkies is tough as nails, but he never lifts a hand on a ref or poke other players' eyes out like a 5 year old girl just cuz he can't be bothered showing up for his anger management classes. Karma? Isn't Bakkies like one of the most successful rugby players in the world? Super14 champ, World Cup Champ, Currie Cup champ, Tri nations champ... focus on importing players and wasting your money, let the Bulls show you how the Rugby part is done. lol you have failed

Sweet are the uses of adversity. Bakkies, unbeknownst to him and the TV sausage machine, is unwittingly preserving himself for the 2011 World Cup. Many other players will be physically spent by the time the RWC arrives. The same applies to Heinrich Brussow, who can now grow to full power while his rugby wisdom develops as he sits and waits with his line in the water. Maybe Blou Masjien cogs Du Preez and Matfield should also sport serious injuries to give their bodies a sabbatical.
@Durban Bulle (WP man)3/10/2010 6:41 PM
"...not a fairy like your locks..."? Wat de vok het jy gerook, my ou? Het jy laas Saterdag se wedstryd gesien. Indien nie, aanvaar ek jy is bloot onkundig. Indien wel, weet ek en die hele land jy weet vokkol van rugby af.
Durban Bulle3/10/2010 6:00 PM
@ Go Stormers...Shame does it still hurt? its one injury you chop!!! maybe a little less red wine and a little but more rugbyt knowladge for you my friend.....Bakkies a hard man not a fairy like your locks down in Cape town.....
Bulls fan forever3/10/2010 4:42 PM
@Go Stormers. Ja jou plattelandse spannetjie het Schalk Burger, so karma gaan ook nog julle bitch wees. Sorry Bakkies is the best. Good luck with your rehabilitation "the enforcer" !!!
Impi3/10/2010 4:37 PM
1st Brussow's knee "gives way" without contact, and now Bakkies. Maybe Tim Noakes had a point when he said the South Africans will start breaking down because of too much rugby ...
marco3/10/2010 4:26 PM
It's a pity Bakkies won't play but that's life is'nt so take all the time off you need mate since you are a class player.Still what's the chances the Bulls going through the Super 14 unbeaten even without one of their prime Maximus type Gladiator's hey? That would be quite something going all the way in this tournament without losing a game maybe that's thinking to far ahead or unrealistic, but you never know.
Stefan3/10/2010 4:22 PM
Ek dink ons sal nou sien hoe goed Flip is. En natuurlik ook Danie die Dinosaur. Hy kan Bakkies se skoene pretty vol staan
Bulla3/10/2010 3:59 PM
...no problem.. ..The Bulls have excellent replacement players..... ... a real champion-team..!! ...Go Bulls..!!
Koos van der Merwe3/10/2010 3:43 PM
Although I'm a Stormer, I always like Bakkies, Spies, du Preez, Matfield and co. The bulls are a very good team with lots of upcoming young talent, balanced with expierenced and matured players. Jammer Bakkies, but we also need you for the Springboks as well. Good luck with your tour Bulle.
Anton3/10/2010 3:32 PM
Very good decision, bulls going to need him for finals. Fresh and ready to destroy the dreams of the teams playing against the Bulls
VanniKaap3/10/2010 3:30 PM
Désolé grand homme. Bakkies mes favoris taureax joueur bien que je ne peux rester l'équipe. STORMERS éternellement.
Voorvel3/10/2010 3:29 PM
It's ok. While Bakkies is sidelined , the lock factory in Pretoria will continue to manufacture suitable replacements for him.
Boet3/10/2010 3:23 PM
Pity. The enforcer. But the Bulls are an unbelievable side who seems to be coping even without a player of Bakkies' calibre. Imagine what we can do when he is back! Maybe it is good he gets some "off-time" with RWC 2011 in mind. Just a pity Victor couldn't get similar rest. Tim Noakes have been saying those two need a rest.
Go Stormers3/10/2010 3:10 PM
Looks like the perenial thug of Blue Bulls rugby has become an injury prawn. Karma is a real bitch!
