Strauss named in Ireland's RWC squad

Cape Town - South African-born hooker Richardt Strauss has been named in Ireland’s Rugby World Cup squad.

Strauss, 29, played for the Cheetahs between 2006 and 2009 before joining Leinster in Ireland.

He is the brother of ex-Kings and Cheetahs centre Andries and cousin of Springbok hooker Adriaan.

Strauss made his debut for Ireland in 2012 and has since played 8 Tests for his adopted nation.

Lock Paul O'Connell will captain the Irish, who begin their World Cup campaign against Canada on September 19 before going on to face Romania, Italy and France in Pool D.
