Etzebeth cleared to face Poms

Cape Town - Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth was on Tuesday cleared of foul play by an independent IRB-appointed Judicial Officer, David Martin of Ireland.

Etzebeth, 21, was on Monday cited for making contact with the "eye or eye area" of Scotland flyhalf Greig Laidlaw, with the alleged incident occurring in the second half of the Springboks' 21-10 victory at Murrayfield.

The Judicial Officer ruled that the contact in the area of the Scotland player's eyes was accidental, and as such did not constitute foul play.

As a result, Etzebeth is available to play in Saturday’s match against England at Twickenham.

Kick-off is at 16:30 (SA time).

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
