London - Springbok No 8 Warren Whiteley has praised his opposite number Billy Vunipola before Saturday's showdown with England at Twickenham.

"He is a fantastic player," Whiteley told Netwerk24, "and one of numerous dangerous players in the England side."

"We don't focus on individual players, but he is outstanding and has been playing well consistently throughout the year. He gets them on the front foot and has good contact skills. I rate him highly."

Vunipola was this week nominated by World Rugby as one of five candidates for its Player of the Year award.

Whiteley said he was focusing on his own game rather than getting caught up with the opposition.

"I believe we have made good progress over the last few weeks and I'm optimistic about the next few weeks. I stay away from the negative talk and rather focus on the positive."

The Springboks have not lost to England in a decade, which includes 12 Tests dating back to 2006.
