Pollard ready to start for Boks

Cape Town - Handre Pollard looks likely to start at flyhalf for the Springboks when they tackle France in Paris this Saturday.

It appears that coach Allister Coetzee has lost faith in Elton Jantjies, who struggled in last Saturday’s 38-3 loss to Ireland.

Pollard has struggled with injuries over the last two years and made his return to the international fold off the bench in three Tests this year.

The last time he started a Test was against Argentina in the Bronze Playoff at the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England but he is eager to add some 'calm' to the Bok make-up.

“We have to be clinical and do the basics better than we did last week. Then the moments of magic will come,” Pollard was quoted as saying by SA Rugbymag.

Pollard also said he was confident that the Boks could bounce back from the disappointing defeat to Ireland.

He mentioned how the Boks bounced back from a record 57-0 thrashing at the hands of New Zealand in Albany to almost beat them in Cape Town, where they lost 25-24.

“We learned a lot from Albany and we were better at Newlands. This team has shown that it can come back from a disappointing defeat, and we’re aiming to do exactly that this weekend," Pollard continued.

Coetzee will name his side on Thursday, with Saturday's Test scheduled for 21:45 (SA time).
