Morne Steyn's career in numbers

Cape Town - Morne Steyn is back.

Say what you want about the 31-year-old, but he has pedigree.

If Handre Pollard and Pat Lambie were both available, there would surely be no way back into the Springbok set-up for the former Bulls pivot.

But injuries have meant that Steyn, who would surely have doubted his international future following last year's Rugby World Cup, has a chance to build on his already impressive Test record.

He is expected to start on the bench behind Elton Jantjies in Saturday's second Test against Ireland in Johannesburg.

Here, we take a look at Steyn's career by the numbers:

1 - Under-21 World Cup title, won in 2005

2 - Currie Cup titles won with the Blue Bulls

3 - Super Rugby titles with the Bulls 2007, 2009, 2010)

4 - Drop goals against the Crusaders in the 2009 Super Rugby semi-final - a record

8 - Springbok tries

25 - Minutes of rugby that Steyn played for the Boks in 2015, against USA at the 2015 World Cup

31 - Points that Steyn scored in the Boks' 31-19 win over the All Blacks in Durban in 2009. It remains the highest tally by a player who has scored all of the points in a Test match, the highest individual haul against New Zealand and the most points by a player in the Rugby Championship

41 - Kicks at goal without missing for the Springboks in 2010

60 - Test caps

66.6 - Percentage of matches the Boks have won that Steyn has played in

694 - Springbok points - second behind only Percy Montgomery on the list of all-time Bok points scorers

803 - Springbok number
