Cape Town - Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula called out to South African fans to give Springbok coach Allister Coetzee a chance.
Coetzee’s charges lost 37-21 to England at Twickenham on Saturday and became the first Bok team to lose to England in 13 Test matches.
After suffering their sixth loss in 10 Tests this year, the Springboks poor performance further heightened the pressure on their under-fire coach.
Mbalula took to Instagram to give advice to Coetzee and reminded everyone (including Coetzee) that he is the coach after all, and that he needs to be confident in his own decision-making.
The Sports Minister encouraged Springboks fans to be patient and give Coetzee a chance, saying:
"There's no team that was build on a single day, as much as the loss of the team is unprecedented the criticism must be constructive there are no holy cows. Give Coach Allister a chance @sa_rugby with time results will come."
"Coach make your decisions and stay with them, dispel any notion that you are not your own man's word. You've our unwavering support. Remember (there) are many experts (there) are many coaches at the end, you are the coach ... decide what you want prove to all that you are not a token of appreciation... pick your team build your team #HoldOn."
