Cape Town - Scarra Ntubeni says he had to cut short his trip to visit former Western Province team-mate Andries Bekker after he was included in the Springbok squad for the end-of-year to the UK and France.
The WP hooker was on Monday included in Heyneke Meyer's 32-man squad for Tests against Wales, Scotland and France next month.
The inclusion came as a surprise to the 22-year-old though, who was heading for Japan to visit his friend, Bekker.
Bekker earlier this year left the Cape to play for the Kobelco Steelers. He also made himself unavailable for Springbok selection.
Ntubeni will now have to visit his friend some other time, as he has more important business to attend to.
"It's obviously a dream come true," he told Die Burger's website. "But I feel I still have lots of work to do. I do feel very lucky to be in the team, but I'll keep on working."
Ntubeni said he will try to learn as much as possible from the two experienced hookers in the squad, Bismarck du Plessis and Adriaan Strauss.
