Cape Town – Barend van Graan, Jurie Roux, Andy Marinos or Harold Verster?
One of these candidates will be named as the new chief executive of the South African Rugby Union (SARU) when the governing body’s general council meets on Friday.
Van Graan was considered the favourite, but there has been a lot of speculation in rugby circles the past week that Roux is a strong candidate.
Roux is the senior director of finances and asset management at Stellenbosch University, chairperson of the Varsity Cup and vice-president of the Western Province Rugby Football Union.
Van Graan is the chief executive of the Blue Bulls company. Marinos is SARU’s manager of national teams and Verster the president of the Free State Rugby Union.
SARU will begin contract negotiations with the successful candidate once they have made a decision.
