Meyer set to coach Boks

Pretoria - Blue Bulls director of rugby, Heyneke Meyer, is set to become the new Springbok coach.

The Rapport newspaper has been reliably informed that Meyer and Jurie Roux, CEO of the South African Rugby Union (SARU), met in Pretoria on Saturday to finalise his contract as Bok coach.

The new Springbok coach will officially be named on Friday.

This comes after rumours surfaced last week that Peter de Villiers would be reinstated as coach on an interim basis after Meyer struggled to get a release from his contract at the Blue Bulls.

But according to Rapport, Meyer and the Blue Bulls Company were able to agree terms to release him from his position at the union.

However, some compensation will need to be paid to the Blue Bulls as some directors are still unhappy with Meyer’s departure after he was appointed less than a year ago.
