Mbombela to host Boks?

Cape Town - There's a possibility that the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit could host a Springbok Test in the near future.

Die Burger
newspaper reports that the Mpumalanga Rugby Union (MPRU) expects the SA Rugby Union (SARU) to award a Test match to the Mbombela Stadium.

Hein Mentz, president of the MPRU, says he hopes it could be next year or as soon as possible thereafter.

"Oregan Hoskins (SARU) said last year - on the field and at the post match function after the match between the Blue Bulls and the Pumas - when the Mbombela Stadium gained its rugby status that the stadium could host a Test. It could even be against a team like England," said Mentz.

"He didn't say when, but the pronouncement was based on the principle that the Mbombela Stadium has to host a Test.

"If we don't get a chance next year, we're hoping for 2013," said Mentz.

England will play three Tests against South Africa in June next year. SARU's executive council gathers in Cape Town on Thursday to further discuss the issue.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
