Cape Town - Lood de Jager looks likely to start at lock for the Springboks against Scotland in Port Elizabeth this weekend.
According to Die Burger's website, De Jager should replace Flip van der Merwe, who has been ruled out with a knee injury.
The 21-year-old made his debut off the bench against Wales in Durban two weeks ago. He also came on in last week's second Test against the Welsh in Nelspruit.
With Van der Merwe ruled out, and Bakkies Botha released back to France, De Jager is the favourite to start alongside Victor Matfield.
Sharks lock Stephan Lewies was on Monday also added to the Bok squad due to the injury to Van der Merwe.
Prop Tendai Mtawarira will also miss Saturday's Test as he is struggling with a neck injury. His Sharks team-mate Lourens Adriaanse was called up as a prop replacement in the squad.
Kick-off for Saturday's Test at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium is scheduled for 17:00.
