Cape Town - If Sport24's readers are to be believed, not only would Fourie du Preez not be the Springbok skipper, he wouldn't even be in the team!
On Monday Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer confirmed that former Bulls and current Suntory Sungoliath scrumhalf Du Preez was committed to playing for the Boks in their upcoming three-Test series against England starting on June 9.
According to wide-spread reports, Du Preez is favourite to not only start the first Test in Durban, but to don the captain's armband.
However, in a poll run on both the Sport24 website and our Facebook page, Du Preez would only be third option among our readers to start the opening Test.
Bulls No 9 Francois Hougaard, who has enjoyed a tremendous Vodacom Super Rugby season to date, is the overwhelming favourite among to get the nod, with 69% of the vote, followed by former Sharks and current Ulster scrumhalf Ruan Pienaar, who will join the Bok squad next week, with 18%. Du Preez brings up the rear with only 13% favouring him starting in the Green and Gold.
