Jaque, JP to start for Boks

Cape Town - Jaque Fourie is set to partner Jean de Villiers in midfield when the Springboks tackle Wales in Cardiff on Saturday, a report on the SA Rugbymag website indicates.

Fourie, who last played for the Boks at the 2011 World Cup, is likely to replace JJ Engelbrecht in the No 13 jersey.

Fourie plays for the Kobelco Steelers in Japan and was unavailable for the Boks for the past two seasons. However, he recently announced that he is again available for selection after including a clause in his new contract that allows him to play international rugby.

JP Pietersen, who also plies his trade in Japan, is expected to be back in the starting team for the first time this year. He will replace Willie le Roux in the No 14 jersey.

Up front, Frans Malherbe is likely to make his debut at tighthead prop in place of the injured Jannie du Plessis, with Flip van der Merwe to partner Eben Etzebeth at lock.

Meyer will name his team on Wednesday.

Kick-off at the Millennium Stadium is at 19:30 (SA time) on Saturday.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
