Gurthrö likely to get Bok nod

Cape Town - Prop Gurthrö Steenkamp could be elevated to the Springbok starting team for Saturday's Test against Wales in Durban.

According to the Volksblad website, Steenkamp trained as the starting loosehead during Tuesday's practice session and is likely to start in his 50th Test.

It would see him replace Tendai Mtawarira, who started against the World XV at Newlands last week.

The Boks won the game 47-13, but struggled to assert themselves at scrum time.

In other changes, Jan Serfontein is likely to replace Frans Steyn at inside centre after the latter ruled himself out of the remainder of the June Test matches.

Flank Schalk Burger and scrumhalf Fourie du Preez could also start this week.

The Bok team for the Test at Kings Park will be named later on Wednesday.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
