Goosen: I'll play where I'm needed

Cape Town - Johan Goosen says he'll play in any position Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer wants to utilise him in.

Meyer could pick Goosen at fullback during the Boks' upcoming year-end tour to Europe.

Willie le Roux is the only regular fullback in the 36-man Springbok squad announced on Monday, and the coach hinted earlier this week he may give Goosen a ran in the No 15 jersey.

“Johan is now playing most of his rugby at fullback and is performing very well in a position where I’ve always thought that he could become a great player," Meyer said via a statement released to the media on Monday.

Even though he still plays most of his rugby at flyhalf for his French club, Racing Metro, Goosen says he doesn't mind playing fullback.

"You have more time and space at fullback," he told Netwerk24.

"I play where they (Racing) use me. I play flyhalf and fullback here."

The Springboks will play Tests against Ireland (Dublin, November 8), England (London, November 15), Italy (Padova, November 22) and Wales (Cardiff, November 29).

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
