Etzebeth out for six months

Cape Town - Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth has been been ruled out of rugby for up to six months after revealing he needs undergo ankle surgery.

Etzebeth, 22, was injured playing for the Springboks against France in Paris last Saturday.

He confirmed his lengthy stint on the sidelines via his official Twitter account on Thursday.

"Just for those who would like to know, going for operation on Monday. +-6 months out of action. Have a great day people!"

This means he will miss a large portion of the Stormers’ 2014 Super Rugby season.
