Euro Cup: snow wreaks havoc

Edinburgh - Edinburgh's European Cup match against French club Castres has been postponed because of continued heavy snowfall in the area around Murrayfield Stadium, the Scottish club confirmed on Sunday.

The decision was made less than three hours before the scheduled 2pm kick-off on Sunday afternoon with a new date for the Pool 1 tie yet to be decided by tournament organisers.

A statement on www.edinburghrugby.org read: "Due to continued heavy snowfall in the Edinburgh area, today's match against Castres has been postponed."

The game was the latest in a long line of weekend sporting call-offs including Glasgow's European Cup match against Toulouse in France.

That game was postponed after the Scottish club's equipment was delayed because of the wintry weather.

The European Challenge Cup Pool 2 tie between Sale and French club Brive was also postponed because a frozen pitch in England.
