Cape Town - Former Springbok captain John Smit ended his playing career on a high note after helping Saracens beat the SA Barbarians in London on Thursday night.
Saracens beat the Barbarians 19-0 at the Honourable Artillery Company in London's financial district.
According to the Saracens website, the skipper started the match at hooker as Saracens outplayed a Barbarians side largely made up of emerging South African players based in Europe.
Two tries from James Short and a score for Jack Wilson secured the victory against the team coached by former Bok coach Nick Mallett.
But the biggest cheer of the evening came when Smit came back on to the field with five minutes remaining to finish the game at flyhalf.
Smit, 35, will now head back to South Africa where he will take over as new CEO of the Sharks from July 1.
