England climb rankings, Boks stay 3rd

Cape Town - England have moved up to fifth in the official World Rugby rankings following their 25-21 victory over Wales at Twickenham.

The win saw Eddie Jones’ men clinch their first Six Nations title since 2011 and they now also have the chance to complete the Grand Slam if they beat France in Paris on Saturday.

England's rankings points total increased from 81.62 to 83.06 which promoted them above Argentina who drop to sixth place.

Wales are still the highest ranked northern hemisphere team in fourth position with 83.10 rankings points, but their lead over England has been cut to just 0.04 of a point.

Ireland rose one spot higher to seventh position after their 58-15 defeat of Italy, while France's first defeat against Scotland in 10 years sees them demoted to eighth place.

World champions New Zealand (96.10) still sit comfortably atop the rankings, followed by Australia (89.33) and South Africa (87.66) in third spot.
