Johannesburg - The South African Rugby Union on Monday confirmed that a hearing into a complaint against the KwaZulu-Natal Rugby Union and players Louis Ludik and Willem Alberts would be heard on Wednesday.

The complaint was brought by the Golden Lions Rugby Union who alleged that the Sharks - the commercial entity of the KwaZulu-Natal Rugby Union - had not secured the necessary clearance certificates required before contracting the players.

The Lions also charged that the two players remained under contract to them.

The Lions allege that this constituted a breach of SARU regulations relating to the Movement of Players and asked SARU to investigate the complaint.

Koos Basson - the former chairman of the SARU disciplinary committee -has been appointed as Judicial Officer and will hear the complaint at SARU's offices in Newlands on Wednesday, February 10 at 10am.

the Golden Lion did report it to SARU but they could not act on the Sharks as the players in question had not played a game for the sharks yet and until such time could do nothing about it

@Blue Jake. Geez Blue how old are you, 3???? Incredibly intelligent and insightful commentary from you. You seem to forget that you support a team that hid Pedrie away while they knew he was snorting cocaine....we call that hypocracy Jake, but that might be too adult a concept for you to undestand. Let us know how your Grade 3 entrance exam result turn out.

Brian van Zyl asked SARU to intervene in November last year. If these 2 players have the same type of contract as Jacue Fourie (which the Sharks claim), it will all be over soon and the Lion's will once again look silly.

Blue jake.......one thing to say chap ....get a life! I have a feeling you Bulls will be crying come the end of the Super 14 this year.

You should not take your personal feelings towards a team into your reckoning. I’m sure the hearing will take the correct course and then the Sharks/Lions will have to deal with the hand dealt to them. The reason I’m saying this, you are quick to call for a ban, but when Matt Stevens and Justin Harrison were found out to have used ‘coke’, they were banned for 2 years and Bath fined, what did the Bulls do…? They hid Pedrie away and told him not to do it again…so please spare us your little speach

The Blue Bull arrogance shows up once again. Jake I suggest you keep your ugly mouth shut and prepare for a Shark attack up at Moftus come May. SHARKS FOREVER!!!
Blue Jake2/8/2010 9:23 PM
@Greg. I think history has shown that the Bulls have no reason to fear the Sharks. A trillion trophees to one over the last decade. @Graham. Talk about white line fever, how's your sister doing? She's mos the chick in Joost's video.

It's pretty damn clear that neither of these two want to play for the Lions anymore. The Lions have just got very sour grapes over this. I'm shocked that Dick Muir hasn't made an attempt to stop this from happening.

Jo, Team A can only lodge a complaint when a player has taken part in a game for another Team B while player is technically contracted to Team A. The timing was completely in the hands of the Shark's managemant. We are used to Sharks supporters that is clued up with all aspects of the game. Wise up old chap. By your reasoning maybe Sharks can sue Ulster!!

Surely the players in question should have known their contract status with the Lions. It's common sense. If you work for someone and have say a 2 year contract @ x amount per annum, you just cannot move jobs. Will be interesting to see the legal implication and who has done their home work.

@ blue jake....awwww baby you scared already and the super 14 not yet even started....Sharks Forever
Graham2/8/2010 8:30 PM
Blue Jake - you obviously didn't read what you wrote - maybe too much white line fever?
Frank2/8/2010 8:24 PM
Ja Jo ! I wonder if you would have sung the same tune if two of the best Sharks players just left for another union, even though they were still contracted for two more year?! Let`s say..... Bismarck and Kankowski ..... I strongly doubt it. They`re getting what they deserve
Deonic2/8/2010 8:03 PM
The Sharks have done absolutely nothing wrong, and don't cry when the finding is made public. I'm not a Shark, by the way.

Can't believe this is only going to a hearing on Wednesday!! It's been dragging on for weeks and should have been resolved ages ago! For heavens sake, the first Super 14 match takes place on Saturday! Why did the Lions only ask SARU to investigate when Alberts was selected to play his first match for the Sharks? He had already been training with the Sharks for weeks before that! Smacks of childish "tit for tat" to me!
Blue Jake2/8/2010 7:30 PM
Good. I hope the Sharks rugby union, players, officials, supporters gets suspended for life.
