Sharks sign banned Chiliboy

Cape Town - The Sharks have announced the signing of Springbok hooker Chiliboy Ralepelle, who will join the franchise from the start of the new Super Rugby season.

The announcement was made on Friday on the Sharks website.

Commenting on his signing, Sharks Director of Rugby, Gary Gold said:  "I am pleased to have acquired the services of a hooker with the pedigree of Chiliboy Ralepelle.  He is a brilliant player with a strong work ethic and will be an asset to our squad.

"We look forward to welcoming him to Durban."

Ralapelle is currently banned by World Rugby for his well-documented doping offence, but he is expected to be allowed to play again in April 2016.

2006 was a breakthrough year for the then 19 year-old Ralepelle, who made both his Super Rugby debut for the Bulls as well as his first appearance in the green and gold.  He went on to represent his country on 22 occasions and also made 69 Super Rugby appearances for the Bulls.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
