Sonny Bill to be unleashed on Blitzboks

Cape Town - All Black superstar Sonny Bill Williams is likely to make his sevens debut at the Wellington Sevens in New Zealand next year.

Wellington Sevens fixtures

Williams, who is earmarked to play in next year’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, did not feature in New Zealand’s first two World Rugby Sevens Series outings in Dubai and Cape Town but looks set to be drafted in for the January 30-31 event in the New Zealand capital.

Williams will square off against South Africa in his debut sevens tournament after the Blitzboks - champions this past weekend in Cape Town - were drawn in the same group as New Zealand.

Scotland and Russia will join New Zealand and South Africa in the same group, while Cape Town runners-up Argentina will compete against series leaders Fiji, Wales and the only non-core side in Wellington, Japan.

Having finished third in Cape Town, France will play Mike Friday's USA, England and Samoa.

Benjamin Ayimba's Kenya complete the top four seeds and await Australia, Canada and Portugal.
