PICS: Rio Olympic Sevens rugby ball launched

2016-07-12 19:00

Cape Town - With the Blitzboks squad announcement a few days away, World Rugby have released images of the rugby ball design to be used at the Sevens tournament at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro from 6 to 11 August.

The ball itself is specifically designed for Sevens rugby and has a modified grip pattern which not only improves handling but reduces kicking distance thus promoting a fast, running game.

It features both the World Rugby logo and the Olympic rings.

The Blitzboks are seeded second tournament where they will contest Group B with Australia, France and Spain.
